So, my room is a disaster and i'm doing everything i can to avoid packing. i've carted most things i'm leaving here down to the storage room, and sent my sewing machine off to the babysitter's - thanks jess! decided to get a hotel for my first night in hk... actually, my mom made that decision for me and it has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. i love that my mom is making decisions for me and that i'm going to live in a dorm with no boys allowed! how old am i??? the office at cuhk was giving me answers like "sure..." when i asked about arriving around midnight on the 24th. it was making me a wee bit nervous. i'm staying in shatin at the swanky-looking regal riverside hotel. man, am i ever gonna love the king sized bed that night!
as one of my final activities here on the westcoast, i tried the famed (infamous?) hot torta sub at duffin's donuts (main and 33rd). interesting. the sando was delish, and only 3.50, but the ambiance left a lot to be desired... lots of dirty kids, dirty looking people, even a dog inside the shop. ew. but again, delicious sando. my conclusion? i would let erin go in and get me one anytime! said goodbye to rob and tracy today. odds are good that they'll have a kid by the time i get back. i don't even own real furniture and rob will have a kid! this is nuts.
tuesday is the talk to the 1st years. should be good - 4 of us talking. very diverse group. and still, the only advice i can think of is about BC Packers... and I guess about teamwork. i'm guessing that cuhk groupwork is gonna be just as interesting. i have no idea how many people in the class are foreign or local, or what the english level is.
so, tuesday after the talk, a bunch of people are going to hit the bar at ubc. should be good - i hear that the word has spread far and wide... will try to take pics. should be a good grand finale before taking off.
back to procrastinating...
